Performing on the radio and also nightly in the open-air cafes, they soon found an enthusiastic audience. With concerts in 1938 in New York and Paris and films in Mexico, Anacaona rose to international fame, spreading their exotic 'son' rhythms across the world.
Today Anacaona has 14 female musicians who blend traditional and contemporary rhythms in a knockout show that has secured their reputation as one of the major forces in Cuban popular music at home and around the world.
The evening also includes a dance class from Vladimir at 9pm, DJ Billy Bryans supplying all the latest music from Havana, and a special added dance performance by Orlando Alfonso.
